I got married in 2011 and was dragged kicking and screaming through the planning process partly because I'm type B to my core but mostly because I just didn't GET all the fuss. I never imagined any specific vision of what my wedding would look like and vividly remember a moment of shared confusion with my now husband when we were told to choose colors and a theme. Linens. Napkins. Centerpieces. Nevermind how it looked, all we knew was what we wanted it to feel like for us and for the people we loved.
After a decade in the industry, I now value structure, planning and (gasp) thoughtful design, BUT true to 25 year old me, I will always prioritize the goods, the grit, the feeling. While I will take care to photograph your details, it is the human connection that inspires me. Flat-lays are not my thing. Getting published does not interest me. I am allergic to Pinterest and to very large bridal parties. If the performative aspects of weddings give you the ick, well, same.
Comfortable, familiar affection over dips.
Faces over phones.
Marriage over weddings.

"From day one Jamie was responsive, supportive, fun and ready to get creative no matter what circumstances were thrown at us. She took a photo journalistic approach to our day which genuinely captured the emotion. While looking at our final gallery it was just so... incredible. Not only did we have a flawless finished product, but her ability to take an image that felt authentic to who we were as individuals and as a couple is like nothing I've ever seen before."

"Do not even know where to start! Do yourselves a favor and hire Jamie from Due West Photography - you will not regret it. Jamie captured the most beautiful pictures of our special day in Keene, NY. We told her what meant the most to us that day and she was ON POINT capturing the entire day from getting ready to sunset. We have so many special and beautiful quality photos that we will cherish forever. Jamie felt like a friend at our wedding, made us so comfortable and relaxed the whole day! ."

"My husband and I loved working with Jamie! She really is a master at her craft. Every photograph she took is outstanding. Throughout the day you could tell she was incredibly knowledgable and knows how to capture not only the big moments but the little moments in between that truly tell the story of the day & the relationship between you. She knew the area well and being a local is a huge plus! Every vendor had only the best things to say about her. We recommend her a million times over."

"My now husband and I are terrible photo subjects. We're awkward, kind of shy, and just hate being the center of pictures. I thought we were doomed, until we met Jamie for our engagement photos. She took a couple of awkward people and a drizzly, gross day and turned it into pure magic. On the wedding day, Jamie was completely calm, funny, and organized. She listened carefully to ideas and pictures that would be important to us. We got all of our beautiful pictures done and didn't have to miss a second of cocktail hour! :) I wasn't even worried about the weather on my wedding day because I knew that no matter what, Jamie/Due West would turn the day into beautiful, magical memories, and that's exactly what happened. I am beyond grateful..."

"We hired Jamie of Due West photography for our small, 18 person wedding in the Lake Placid area. From the beginning, Jamie was so helpful in answering any questions we had about photography, recommending local vendors and things to do, and worked with us to create the perfect timeline for our day. On the day of the wedding, Jamie arrived on time with a calm and friendly demeanor. She made sure to get all the photos that were important to us but she never made us feel rushed. It was truly like having another friend in attendance, and it shows in all the photos. We are definitely not people who enjoy being the center of attention, but she made us feel so comfortable that we were smiling and laughing the whole time!"
